I really love how religious institutions and their followers pick and choose when they call for and agree with a separation of church and state…  when its convenient with them.

Where was this outrage when zealots were pushing for prayer in tax payer funded schools?  What about when they pushed for “intelligent design” to be taught as a…  SCIENTIFIC THEORY in schools?

Where was this support for church state separation when they added “under god” to the Pledge of Allegiance back in the 1950s?

When two individuals wanted the same right to marry their partner the same way their counterparts do… but the religious outrage pushed and pandered and threw their bibles everything they had out to pass laws in many states to deny that right to certain individuals because… of their religious beliefs.  Where was the support for church state separation then?

Don’t bitch about separation of church and state.. and then use it when it is convenient for your argument.  Either you are for it… or you are not.

About Woody Bass

Woody Bass is a freelance blogger who writes about politics, current events and generally anything he finds ignorant, stupid or totally out of line. There is nothing he wont say or write about so long as it is the truth and what he truly believes - with a few smartass remarks thrown in for good measure. Smart ass is what Woody does best. Don’t go looking for any extreme “right” or “leftist” thinking though. Woody is able to step back, look at the “big picture” and provide a moderate/centrist observation on the matter. Woody was formerly a blogger for the Atlanta Journal Constitution - Gwinnett News for 3 years. http://www.ajc.com/yournorcross Woody was born in Orlando, Florida and moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 1986. He is a ‘rabid Gator fan’ and loves nothing more than to annoy as many fans of “that team from Athens, Ga” as possible.

I believe he ailgns with some of the famous opinions of the founders, in that he recognizes the necessity for anyone in power to see the value of morality as religions often do. However, I don’t believe he is interested in giving power to any group of people over any other group of people, be it on the basis of religion, race, gender, or any other group characteristic. -8Was this answer helpful?
