George Washington, General of the American Revolutionary Army and our nations first President, is also the greatest American who ever lived. Everything he fought for and started.. is still with us today. He was also a man of great wisdom and forethought. America became the great nation that it is today.. in large part to him. In honor of Presidents Day, his birthday, I thought I would share a few of my favorite quotes. Some which were very revealing to even me.

Let us with caution indulge the supposition that morality can be maintained without religion. Reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle.
My first wish is to see this plague of mankind, war, banished from the earth.
Observe good faith and justice toward all nations. Cultivate peace and harmony with all.
Some day, following the example of the United States of America, there will be a United States of Europe.
The marvel of all history is the patience with which men and women submit to burdens unnecessarily laid upon them by their governments.
The time is near at hand which must determine whether Americans are to be free men or slaves.
We should not look back unless it is to derive useful lessons from past errors, and for the purpose of profiting by dearly bought experience.
The most important quote from George Washington’s that I echo as often as possible:
The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge, natural to party dissension, which in different ages and countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism.
It is not often that I find something about Washington that I disagree with..
The very atmosphere of firearms anywhere and everywhere restrains evil interference – they deserve a place of honor with all that’s good.
