Tampa Bay Lightning Update

2/10/12
Lightning 1
Rangers 5

This pretty much sums it up:

Stamkos:

“We’re known as a team that can’t win on the road right now,” he told the St. Petersburg Times following Sunday’s 5-1 loss to the Rangers at MSG. “It’s embarrassing. “Especially [Sunday’s] effort. We couldn’t even make a pass out there.”

Boucher:

“[That was] “as bad as we’ve played all year,” he said following Sunday’s loss. “Total impatience. Not smart, trying to cheat and find ways that don’t exist.”

Uh yup. They have pretty much stunk it up here lately with a 4 game losing streak perhaps saved by Snowpacalypse Nemo from a Bruins victory. They have pretty much played like their ECHL affiliate. Theres not one particular area that has really shined for the normally high octane scoring machine of the Bolts. Penalties, poor
passing/decisions, and poor defense were all common factors to all the these losses. Lindback took over for Garon in the 2nd period after 3 pucks found its way to the back of the net.

Even after the last four games, the Lightning retain a 1 point lead over the Hurricanes and Jets, and 3rd in the Eastern Division behind the Devils and Bruins. Saturdays game was post-poned…Will that game have a decisive impact on the race to the Stanley Cup Playoffs? On a shortened season with very little room for error… I believe it can if the Lightning don’t turn things around soon. Fortunately, there are still plenty of games to play. Overall, this team is bigger and better and certainly MUCH better than the last 4 games have shown.

I still believe…
